Radius Recycling Inc. has released its sustainability report for the 2024 fiscal year.

The Portland, Oregon-based metals recycler says its report shows progress toward its multiyear sustainability goals, including a 30 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions at recycling operations versus its 2019 baseline, a 16 percent year-over-year reduction in total case incident rate and the expansion of its International Organization for Standardization- (ISO-) certified environmental management system to encompass 50 percent of company facilities.

“Nearly 10 years ago, we created a sustainability framework based on three pillars: people, planet and profit,” Radius Chairman and CEO Tamara Lundgren says. “This framework is the foundation of our sustainability strategy and continues to deliver meaningful impact to all our stakeholders.

“Our achievements this year would not have been possible without all our employees living our core values of safety, sustainability and integrity and operating with the agility, resilience and collaboration that have underpinned our success. I take great pride in highlighting our company’s achievements and the steady progress we are making toward our goals.”

Radius says it diverts millions of tons of ferrous and nonferrous metals from landfills annually, supplies recycled metals to domestic and international customers and produces low-carbon finished steel products.

“Our commitment to sustainable practices is embedded in our product and service offerings, daily operations, infrastructure investments and stakeholder engagement activities,” says Chief Sustainability Officer Eric Potashner. “The benefit of our work has a lasting impact on our communities, the planet and future generations.”
