The Women in Trucking Association (WIT), Plover, Wisconsin, welcomes Waste Management, Houston, as its newest silver level partner. Rod Cross, talent acquisition advisor, sourcing, at Waste Management, also will serve on the advisory committee.
“We are excited to add Waste Management as a Silver Partner,” says WIT President/CEO Ellen Voie. “Women don’t often consider driving a waste disposal vehicle when looking at a career as a professional driver, but it aligns completely with work-life balance for women with families and is less physically demanding than drivers might imagine.”
“Waste Management is very excited to support the important efforts of the Women in Trucking Association,” says ross. “A diverse workforce is critical to a healthy workforce, and we look forward to working with Women in Trucking as part of our ongoing effort to attract the best talent.”
The mission of the nonprofit WIT is to encourage women to consider careers in the trucking industry, to address obstacles that might keep women from succeeding and to celebrate the success of its members.
The Women in Trucking Association is a resource for more than 4,000 corporate and individual members located in the United States, Canada and Mexico, as well as in Japan, Australia, Sweden, South Africa and New Zealand.
The organization is planning its second annual Accelerate! Conference and Expo to be held in Dallas, Nov. 7-9, 2016.
