Weima America Inc., a subsidiary German recycling equipment manufacturer Weima Maschinenbau GmbH, recently celebrated its 25th anniversary in the North American market with a two-day event at its Fort Mill, South Carolina, headquarters.
The company says the occasion was attended by team members, partners and guests that included Weima founder Peter Rössler and Managing Partner Martin Friz, who traveled from Germany to attend.
Founded in 1999 in Fort Mill, Weima America was Rössler’s vision, as he saw immense potential in the North American market. According to the company, Rössler recognized Fort Mill’s strategic location near East Coast ports and major interstates as ideal for importing and distributing large machinery.
Since, Weima has grown to serve a broad range of industries, providing shredders for plastics, paper, waste-to-energy, metals and more. With the addition of briquette and drainage presses, Weima says it has solidified its global leadership in size reduction technology.
The company says that before the celebration, an international sales meeting was held to foster collaboration and discuss recent projects and global applications of Weima machinery. While the celebration primarily was in honor of the growth the company has enjoyed in North America, it notes the gathering of team members from around the world highlighted its commitment to innovation and growth on a global scale.
Weima America says the event commenced with a day of live demonstrations at the Fort Mill facility, which attracted vendors, dealers, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), business partners and prospective clients. Ten live demonstrations showcased Weima’s machinery, including applications such as aluminum can compression, wood dust briquetting and bathtub shredding. The company says approximately 45 guests attended.
The event continued with a cocktail reception that featured live music, a photo booth and souvenirs. Madison Burt, CEO of Weima America, expressed gratitude for the ongoing support and dedication of the Weima team and partners, emphasizing the strength of the extended Weima family.
The celebration concluded with a formal dinner attended by current and former employees. The company says Rössler shared stories from Weima’s early days in the North American market, while Friz reflected on the past 25 years and expressed optimism for the future.
“We are so proud of the accomplishments we have achieved in the first 25 years of our existence in North America,” Burt says. “With the solid team we have in place, the future is unlimited and exciting.”
Weima, which has been manufacturing equipment for more than 40 years, has sold more than 40,000 machines worldwide in that span. The company has sales and service locations in the U.S., Italy, India and China.
