Tanos GmbH, a Germany-based subsidiary of TTS Tooltechnic Systems AG & Co. KG. that develops comprehensive storage management and transportation products, has selected mechanically recycled acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) from Germany-based Ineos Styrolution for its new mobile system case, Systainer Eco M 187.
According to Ineos, its Terluran Eco GP-22 MR70 product was used in Tanos’ application and has a 47 percent lower CO2 footprint compared to conventional plastics. Tanos’ conventional Systainer offering already is made of ABS material and the company says it is 99 percent recyclable, but the company says its use of Terluran ECO is another step forward in reducing its customers’ ecological footprint.
“I am pleased to work with a customer who shares our own vision of advancing circular solutions that lower emissions and are better for the environment,” Ineos Styrolution Account Manager Desiree Virgil says. “I am sure their customers will be equally excited once they experience the quality of the new Systainer product. It is indeed the same quality as products based on conventional material.”
Ineos says its Terluran Eco GP-22 MR70 is a mechanical postconsumer resin (PCR) grade with a PCR content 0f 70 percent, adding that in addition to offering a significantly reduced CO2 footprint, the product properties are on part with conventionally produced Terluran GP-22 and ensures no further conversion investments in the molding process.
“The Systainer Eco continues the quality promise of the Systainer product family; in other words, it is already sustainable as it is extremely robust and durable,” says Klaus-Martin Berstecher, managing director at Tanos. “Now the even more environmentally friendly base material Terluran Eco has been added. This means that it not only has the same good product properties as the tried and tested ABS but is also greener in the best sense of the word.”
