The office of Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders has announced a $60 million capital expenditure investment to be made by Taber Extrusions at its plant in Russellville, Arkansas.

Taber says technology in its cast house in Gulfport, Mississippi, allows it to use 75 percent commercial and extrusion manufacturing scrap to produce aluminum alloy billets for the aerospace, marine and other industry sectors. That billet is then used to supply its extrusion lines in Gulfport and Russellville.

“We are excited for this expansion as it provides the capability and capacity needed in the large shape extrusion market,” Taber Extrusions President Chuck Stout says. “This investment highlights our commitment to continue to serve our national defense, aerospace and large industrial market partners.”

Representatives from the state and Taber Extrusions made the investment announcement at the Farnborough Airshow in mid-July in the United Kingdom.

The $60 million will help the firm install what it says will be the largest direct extrusion press in North America.

“Taber Extrusions has operated in Arkansas since 1976, and we look forward to many more years of business success for them,” says Clint O’Neal, executive director of the Arkansas Economic Development Commission. “Congratulations to the city of Russellville on this economic development win, which creates 70 new jobs in the River Valley region.”

This expansion is expected to be completed in 2026.

“Taber Extrusions has been a cornerstone of Russellville for as long as I can remember,” Russellville Mayor Fred Teague says. “Our residents create products that touch lives around the world, and I am thrilled to witness the Taber brand’s local expansion. I am confident that this expansion will bring new job opportunities, benefiting both Russellville and many families in our area.”
