In a move meant to strengthen the stability of its supply chain, De Pere, Wisconsin-based recycled-content paper and fiber producer Sustana has merged with high grades paper recycler Hanna Paper.
Sustana announced the move earlier this week, with CEO Fabian de Armas saying, “Today marks an exciting milestone for Sustana and the long-term stability of our supply chain.”
Toronto-based Hanna processes more than 300,000 tons of paper annually at its eight recovery facilities across North America. The company has two sites in Ontario and two in Quebec as well as locations in Mansfield, Massachusetts; Wallingford, Connecticut; Savage, Maryland; Buffalo, New York; and Cincinnati, with 200 employees servicing more than 1,000 customers.

“We are steadfast in our commitment to sustainability and we are thrilled to welcome Hanna, a longtime leader in our industry, to the Sustana family,” de Armas says. “We look forward to growing together with Hanna and its team as we continue to deliver on our vision of a circular economy.”
Hanna Paper was founded in 1977 in Toronto and today features a variety of paper recycling and management services as well as secure shredding and document destruction. The company says all its divisions are National Association of Information Destruction (NAID) members and its facilities in Mansfield, Wallingford, Cincinnati and Markham, Ontario, are Nation Association for Information Destruction (NAID) AAA certified.
“Partnering with Sustana is an exciting step in the continued growth of Hanna,” says Michael Knox, president of Hanna Paper. “Together, we will continue to offer expanded solutions to current and new customers and be part of a unique and growing platform.”
