Sims Lifecycle Services, an information technology asset disposition (ITAD) provider headquartered in West Chicago, Illinois, is expanding operations to Ireland with a new circular center. The facility will increase the redeployment, reuse and recyclability of retired IT equipment and data center material.
The company says the facility will be in Kilbeggan, County Westmeath. Sims says Ireland is one of the fastest growing data center hubs in Europe, and the facility will meet the needs of the company's existing global cloud service providers and corporate clients in the region.
"I am pleased to add another circular center to our network of owned and operated sites," says Sean Magann, chief commercial officer for Sims. "It has never been more critical for Sims to align our physical locations to be close to clients. Being local allows us to cut down on miles traveled as well as provide more prompt and faster service."
According to a news release from Sims, the addition of Ireland to the company’s global operational footprint forms part of a multiyear strategic growth plan to focus on recycling the cloud. Sims currently has circular centers throughout North America, Europe, Australia, Asia and the Indian subcontinent.
