First Citizens Bank is sponsoring a Community Shred Day Sept. 17, 2005, from 9 a.m. to noon for all residents in the Cary, NC, area. The bank will partner with On-Site Shred to destroy unwanted sensitive materials free of charge.
"At First Citizens Bank, one of our highest priorities is protecting our customers' personal information; now, we want to help all Cary residents safeguard their vital information," said Christine Young, the bank's Triangle area executive. "With identity theft on the rise nationwide, the destruction and disposal of secure documents has never been more important. We're pleased we can provide this important service."
Mobile On-Site Shred trucks will be at First Citizens Bank's four Cary locations. Bank associates will also be on hand to provide information about protecting personal information and offer refreshments. All participants will be asked to register for a prize drawing of a personal shredder at each of the First Citizens Community Shred Day locations:
While all types of dry paper will be accepted, residents are asked not to bring in plastics, media tapes or corrugated cardboard. There is no need to remove staples, paper clips and other bindings and colors do not have to be separated. All materials should be in boxes and containers for quick, easy disposal.
