A Re-Sort RV 070 unit from German company Sesotec GmbH is helping World PET Recycling in northern Portugal reduce material loss during production and improve the quality of its recycled polyethylene terephlate (rPET) products.
Sesotec worked with its partner in Portugal, Iberoacero, to create a customized solution centered on the Re-Sort unit for World PET Recycling, part of the Logoplaste Group and a leading player in regional PET recycling.
Regarding the Re-Sort RV 070 unit, Sesotec says it is an advanced metal separation unit designed to inspect heavily contaminated material and separate reusable PET from impurities. It functions as a secondary filtering system, complementing the existing gravity-feed (GF) metal separator by re-inspecting the reject fraction from the initial separation.
In Portugal, the post-GF separated material is fed into the Re-Sort unit via a hopper and is isolated through a vibratory feeder. It then passes through the Sesotec Extractor magnetic system and the Rapid Vario-FS metal separator.
“Together, these technologies ensure that both magnetic and nonmagnetic metal contaminants are reliably removed,” the company says.
Sesotec credits the Re-Sort unit as having high sensitivity, enabling it to detect and remove even the smallest metal particles, less than 1 millimeter in size.
Those strict parameters ensure compliance with quality requirements for food-grade rPET while also minimizing the loss of usable PET material and thus increasing profitability, according to Sesotec.
The technology provider says the Re-Sort RV 070 unit has become an “indispensable part of the production process” at World PET Recycling, “providing not only economic advantages but also contributing to the sustainability and environmental responsibility of the company.”
