Charlotte, North Carolina-based Sealed Air Corp. has announced its acquisition of AFP Inc., a fabricator of foam, corrugated, molded pulp and wood packaging. AFP specializes in custom-engineered protective packaging for retail, e-commerce and direct shipping applications.
According to Sealed Air, acquiring AFP will allow it to better position its fabricated foam products such as EcoPure, which it calls a “sustainable solution made from plant-based resin.”
AFP, headquartered in Pflugerville, Texas, operates six facilities in the United States and also lists on its website several locations in China, and one in Taiwan.
On its website, AFP says it has “worked with key supply partners to develop polyethylene foams delivering a minimum 65 percent recycled content.” The company also makes molded pulp packaging components which it says often are made “from a large assortment of different recycled and renewable materials, including paperboard and newsprint.”
Sealed Air Corp., through its website, invites users of its “bubble wrap” plastic packaging materials to ship discarded bubble wrap to addresses provided for recycling. The company also provides recycling and return instructions for other materials it manufactures.
