The Scholz Group, a large European metal recycler based in Essingen, Germany, and the Chinese holding company Chiho Environmental Group plan to appoint Rafael Suchan as the company’s chief executive officer and joint managing director as of March 1.
Suchan will manage the international business across the entire group to help bring the global companies closer, Scholz reports in a news release on Suchan’s appointment. The activities of Chiho in China as well as the entire Scholz Group along with its subsidiaries in Europe and North America will be managed from a single source.
"With Mr. Suchan, we have a new strong CEO who can rely on more streamlined decision-making structures and thus interlink the Group more effectively," says former Chiho CEO Henry Qin.
As chairman of Chiho, Qin will continue to contribute his experience to the group.
Suchan previously worked for Shanghai-based Lanxess, a manufacturer and marketer of chemical intermediates, additives, specialty chemicals and plastics. According to Scholz, Suchan was born in Silesia, Poland, and he grew up in Germany. He has also lived in China with his family for about 15 years and works globally. “For this very reason, I am convinced that Mr. Suchan is also culturally the ideal person to bring our group closer together,” Qin adds.
Suchan says, “For all of us, it is important that we as a global group with activities in Asia, Europe and North America work together more strongly and more closely. This is the only way we can develop and offer optimal and comprehensive solutions for our customers. It is one of Scholz’s strengths to serve both local customers and large, global industrial companies comprehensively in recycling and thus in resource saving. We must pool this experience, learn from it and extend our knowledge. Together with our parent company, Chiho, Scholz is one of the best-positioned companies globally in the field of sustainability.”
Scholz Recycling is a processor and recycler of steel and metal scrap. It’s part of the Chiho Environmental Group, a large metal recycling company in China.
