Resource Recycling Systems (RRS), headquartered in Ann Arbor, Michigan, has expanded its ownership team with the addition of seven professionals: Isabelle Borkowski, Carrie Bell, Chris King, Maggie Orozco, Ché Pomo, Katy Ricchi and Annie White. As RRS continues to experience strong growth in the sustainable materials management sector, these individuals bring expertise that will enhance the company’s services, strengthen its internal operations and further its mission-driven impact, according to the company.
With this latest expansion, RRS now has 30 individual shareholders, reinforcing its commitment to broad-based employee ownership and shared success. The new shareholders have been recognized for their contributions in advancing client work, improving internal systems and elevating RRS’ presence in the market.
“Our transition toward broad-based employee ownership marks an exciting time for RRS,” says Brianne Haven, chief operating officer and chief financial officer at RRS. “By expanding our ownership team, we’re deepening our investment in our people, and our people are investing in RRS. This new direction fosters a culture of collboration, leadership and shared success, strengthening our ability to innovate and make meaningful change in our industry.”
RRS says these new shareholders have played instrumental roles in shaping its growth, with expertise that spans key areas such as market research, policy analysis, engineering, communications, finance and sustainable packaging solutions:

Isabelle Borkowski is a consultant based in Boulder, Colorado, who has played a key role in expanding RRS’ policy-tracking infrastructure services and growing service offerings to better meet client needs.

Carrie Bell, based in Victor, Idaho, has been instrumental in proposal development, working collaboratively to secure new business and fostering strong relationships with partners.

Chris King, a senior engineer in Boulder, provides leadership to field teams and projects, with his technical expertise and analytical skills driving RRS’ expansion in EPR, or extended producer responsibility, implementation markets.

Maggie Orozco, a communications specialist based in Rockville, Maryland, whose work is valued by peers and clients and who contributes to strengthening company culture.

Ché Pomo, director of finance, operates out of Ann Arbor and ensures financial compliance, promoting best practices and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.

Katy Ricchi, a consulting engineer based in Ann Arbor, is a strong project leader, representing RRS in the plastics space while driving internal team initiatives.

Annie White, based in Washington, is a senior consultant, contributing to a range of public and private sector projects, using her attention to data and details to advance client objectives.
“As RRS transitions to employee ownership, this expansion of our shareholder group underscores our commitment to a shared purpose and long-term growth,” says Jim Frey, CEO of RRS. “This evolution embraces who we’ve always been—a collaborative, mission-driven organization—while opening new doors for innovation and solutions in a rapidly evolving industry.”
RRS says its employee-ownership model is central to the company's growth, fostering a deep sense of purpose, accountability and dedication that directly benefits clients. A cornerstone of this transition is the creation of an employee stock ownership plan (ESOP). With this program, each team member has a vested interest in the company’s success, driving a collaborative and mission-focused environment, RRS says. This structure strengthens RRS’ culture and enhances service quality, ensuring every project is approached with shared commitment and responsibility.
