Delaware C&D recycling facility expands

Revolution Recovery Delaware doubles in size and installs separation equipment.

Revolution Recovery Delaware LLC has expanded its construction and demolition (C&D) recycling facility at the Delaware Solid Waste Authority’s (DSWA’s) Delaware Recycling Center (DRC). The facility is located at 1101 Lambsons Lane in New Castle, Delaware. In March 2014 the facility grew from 42,000 square feet to 84,000 square feet with a 300-foot mechanical separation system designed to improve efficiency and increase diversion of existing C&D materials in Delaware.

With this expansion, Revolution Recovery Delaware says it hopes to diversify and strengthen the recycling industry in the state. Working in partnership with local commercial waste haulers and businesses, the facility is expected to increase the amount of material diverted from landfill, which will help meet the Delaware Solid Waste Recycling Law’s goal of diverting 85 percent of solid waste by 2020.

Haulers, contractors, manufacturers, industries, commercial businesses and residential customers in the northern Delaware region now have a local facility that sorts and processes mixed loads of commercial debris at rates competitive to landfills, the company says. Materials such as wood, drywall, metal, rubble, old corrugated containers (OCC), plastics, ceiling tile, paper, carpet and other items are being targeted for recycling, the company says. With a mission to keep materials out of landfills as a driving force, approximately 80 percent of all inbound materials are being recovered and recycled for beneficial use.

“I’m excited to be part of a company that’s bringing Delaware to the forefront of the construction waste and manufacturing recycling industries,” says Nick Grovola, operations coordinator at the Lambsons Lane facility.

With this phase of growth, Revolution Recovery Delaware says it is on target to create an additional 20 jobs in New Castle by the end of 2014 with hopes of doubling its staff in future expansion phases of its operations, bringing more green jobs to the local economy.

The DRC is owned by the DSWA. In 2012, Revolution Recovery Delaware entered into a 20-year agreement to bring its operations to the site.

The facility at the DRC is open to the public Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays 6 a.m. to noon. For more information on the facility expansion or to discuss the services Revolution Recovery Delaware offers, email info@revolutionrecovery.com.
