Rehrig Pacific partners with Openscreen

The companies will leverage Openscreen’s QR code-activated microsites with Rehrig Pacific’s collection carts.

Openscreen, a Toronto-based software company, has partnered with Monterey Park, California-based Rehrig Pacific Co. to leverage Openscreen’s QR code-activated microsites with Rehrig Pacific’s collection carts.

Rehrig Pacific will incorporate Openscreen's QR codes onto its cart, enabling a contextual point of interaction for residents on their municipal carts. According to Openscreen, this solution brings residential carts into the Internet of Things (IoT) universe.

Every cart will be uniquely identified and have model and municipality-specific information accessible through its microsite. Openscreen says this solution simplifies support services, enhances cart tracking, improves operational efficiency and provides real-time insights.

“Partnering with Openscreen is a significant step forward in our mission to innovate and improve carts and services in the waste and recycling industry,” says Rebecca Vara, vice president of environmental sales at Rehrig Pacific. “Their technology will allow us to digitally connect our carts and provide a better service to our customers and their residents.”

Residents can file service requests through the platform, reducing inbound support calls, email submissions and service request reassignments. Users do not have to download an app to scan the QR code and access their cart’s information, and the software company says the platform can be integrated into a city’s existing data system.
