ASM Global LLP says its RecyclX software as a service (SaaS) platform has been developed to offer digital product passports (DPPs) and comprehensive end-to-end supply chain integration to manufacturers that use recycled materials.
The company, which is based in India and also has offices in the United States and the Philippines, says its DPP system “provides a comprehensive record of a product’s life cycle.”
From the sourcing of postconsumer materials to processing and conversion into recycled-content products, DPPs “empower stakeholders to track the provenance, composition and recycled content of materials, enabling fostering trust and transparency across the value chain,” ASM says.
For manufacturers, DPPs assist with compliance with sustainability regulations such as the European Union’s Circular Economy Action Plan. For recyclers and reprocessors, DPPs can demonstrate the authenticity of their materials while they also can help household consumers make eco-conscious purchasing decisions, according to ASM.
In addition to offering DPPs, the RecyclX platform connects material collectors, sorters, reprocessors and end product manufacturers to facilitate “seamless collaboration and data sharing.”
The designers of RecyclX say the platform has a social inclusion aspect as it integrates informal waste collectors into formal supply chains, offering them "fair compensation and access to resources.”
The RecyclX platform currently operates in more than 40 countries, serving more than 50 global clients and tracking some 700,000 metric tons of recycled-content materials.
“By enabling end-to-end material traceability and compliance management, RecyclX has become a trusted partner for industries ranging from fashion to electronics,” ASM says.
The company says brands using RecyclX’s DPPs have seen “significant improvements" in material recovery rates and reductions in waste sent to landfills.
