RecycLiCo secures key European patent for battery recycling process

RecycLiCo Battery Materials Inc., a lithium-ion battery (LIB) recycler based in Surrey, British Columbia, has been issued an official communication from the European Patent Office (EPO) indicating its intention to grant the company’s first of two patent applications (patent application No. 17870326.0) for its LIB recycling process.

RecycLiCo says this milestone marks a significant step forward in its efforts to strengthen its intellectual portfolio across key global markets.

With the EPO’s positive stance, the company says it will be strategically reviewing Europe’s planned and operational gigafactories, as tracked by Spain-based research firm CIC energiGUNE, in consideration of which countries to select for validation. The company adds that this selection reflects its commitment to establishing a strong presence in significant European markets.

With patents already issued in the United States, South Korea, Japan, China, India, Australia and Canada, the anticipated European patent will be the 14th issued for RecycLiCo internationally.
