RecycleBank, Phoenix Partner on new Recyclables Collection Program

Program will be phased in through this coming March.

The city of Phoenix has teamed up with RecycleBank to introduce the company’s growing rewards-based recycling program.

The rewards program, that started Nov. 30, currently services 33,000 households in southwest Phoenix in the first phase of the project. The next two phases, to begin this coming March, will add another 67,000 households. Phoenix is the second Arizona city to adopt the RecycleBank program: Mesa earlier introduced the program.

"Mayor Gordon’s 17-point "Green Phoenix" plan sets the stage to make us the first carbon-neutral city in the nation, as well as the greenest city. RecycleBank will help us to both increase our recycling and lower our waste output," said City Councilman Michael Nowakowski.

"This partnership brings no added cost to our city or our residents. In fact, it will generate revenue for our local businesses and savings for our residents. We strongly encourage our residents to activate their accounts and take advantage of both the economic and environmental benefits this partnership with RecycleBank offers us all."
