The Paper Stock Industries (PSI) Chapter, a national chapter of the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI), Washington, has launched its 2020 academic scholarship program. Scholarship requirements and the new application is available here. The deadline for applications is March 16, 2020, with winners announced in early June.
The PSI scholarship program provides funds to select students who are dependents of employees in the recycling divisions of PSI Chapter member companies. PSI plans to give $2,000 scholarships to nine students in 2020, beating its previous record of eight scholarships a year given in 2018 and 2019.
PSI supports its scholarship program through raffles, donations and an annual bowling tournament and networking event, which raises funds through individual registrations and corporate sponsorships. PSI thanks the following sponsors for supporting its 2019 PSI Palooza event held Oct. 23 in Chicago in conjunction with the Paper & Plastics Recycling Conference (PPRC):
Platinum Sponsors: Balcones Resources, Casella, CellMark, Closed Loop Partners, Greif, Harmon Recycling, Midland Davis Corp., Pioneer Industries International, Potential Industries Inc., Pratt Industries, Resource Management Cos. (RMC), Texas Recycling, Waste Management and WestRock;
Gold Sponsors: Coastal Wire Co., Graphic Packaging International, Miami Waste Paper, Mid America Paper Recycling, Padnos, Quincy Recycle, Sonoco, Steinert, Van Dyk Recycling Solutions and Western Pacific Pulp & Paper;

Bronze Sponsors: Dixie Pulp & Paper Inc., Fr. Meyer’s Sohn, Resource Recycling Systems (RRS) and Storelli Recycling Co.
“PSI’s scholarship program is successful in large part due to the generosity of its corporate sponsors,” says PSI Scholarship Committee Chair Nini Krever of Wilmington Paper Corp. “PSI scholarships can change lives, and our sponsors’ support makes it all possible.”
