Indianapolis-based Premier Scrap Processing LLC has been sold to new owners as Colin Douthit and Adam Helton assumed ownership Dec. 21, succeeding company founder Mark Imel. Under terms of the deal, Premier Scrap Processing will retain its name and its headquarters will remain in Indianapolis.

“Bringing in leaders like Colin and Adam underscores our commitment to ensuring the future success of our company for the benefit of our clients and employees,” Imel says. “We consider ourselves fortunate to have access to their creativity, which will further elevate the company on a national scale.”

Imel will stay with the company in an advisory capacity to support the transition and handoff of responsibilities.

Founded in 2019, Premier Scrap Processing provides torching and labor services for a range of industries, including scrap metal recyclers, mining operations, oilfield operations and manufacturing, with ferrous scrap accounting for most of the material processed by the company. Premier Scrap Processing’s labor services include laborers, pickers, cleaners, machine operators and millwrights. The company is set to expand its service portfolio, introducing additional torching and project-based services.

The company says it intends to implement new technology solutions and processes to support additional operational efficiencies and to build upon its relationships with current customers to further expand its geographical footprint.

Douthit and Helton began their careers as engineers and project managers in the heavy construction industry. In 2019, they founded Kansas City, Missouri-based real estate and construction company Atlas Cos. They sold their ownership stake in 2022.
