Netherlands-based Good Plastic Co., which has established sales operations in the United States, has launched its Translucent Collection as the latest addition to its Polygood line of 100 percent recycled-content and recyclable plastic interior panels.

The new collection is made from clear CD cases and “enhanced with vibrant accents from industrial tubes, spools, acoustic panels and single-use cutlery” and that it “epitomizes the company’s dedication to circularity, without compromising on style.”

Other scrap uses includes volumes harvested from discarded refrigerators and other household appliances and from discarded manufacturing components.

“With the Translucent Collection, we are pushing the boundaries of what recycled materials can achieve,” says William Chizhovsky, CEO and founder of Good Plastic Co. “More than just a design element, Polygood is a structural and scalable solution. Each pattern tells a story, embodying our mission to elevate sustainable materials to new heights.”

The new product extension is not only transparent, the company says, but that word also is “a guiding principle carried into every aspect of the company’s operations––from ethical sourcing of postconsumer and post-industrial [scrap] to sustainable end-of-life processes."

Good Plastic Co. says its commitment to regenerative practices ensures that each panel in the collection contributes to a circular economy, where resources are reused and recycled, reducing the demand for non-renewable materials.

Since its founding in 2018, the company has recycled and repurposed more than 1,000 tons of plastic, converting it into what it calls high-quality, sustainable materials.

Users of Polygood materials include Nike, Samsung, Adidas, Coach, Lush and McDonald’s, as well as global design and architecture firms including Perkins&Will, MVRDV, Gensler and M Moser.

“Polygood panels have been specified in over 1,000 projects worldwide [and] each panel is backed by the Cradle to Cradle Bronze certification and Environmental Product Declaration, further solidifying its role as a leader in sustainable design,” the company says.

The Translucent Collection line is available in two thickness options (12 millimeters, or about one-half inch, and 19 millimeters, or about three-quarters of 1 inch) and are suitable “for a multitude of applications, from retail stores to hotels, universities and office spaces.”

The Good Plastic Co. also says its free Take Back Program extends the life cycle of Polygood products, allowing clients to return used panels for remanufacturing.
