A Columbus, Ohio, equipment auction and its accompanying webcast to take place May 23 will feature equipment used to granulate, extrude and thermoform plastics for food-contact applications.

A statement from Ohio-based Myron Bowling Auctioneers indicates the equipment had been used by North Carolina-based Genpak LLC at its facility in Columbus. According to local reports, Genpak announced in February that the facility would be idled.

Genpak makes containers, bowls, plates and other items used by the food service industry and on its website refers to bioplastic and sustainable forests more so than any use of recycled materials.

Among the machinery listed by Myron Bowling in its statement are a plastic extrusion line made by Illinois-based PTi Extruders; five thermoformers made by Yakima, Washington-based Irwin R&D; and granulating, grinding, drying and blending equipment made by Wisconsin-based Cumberland; Virginia-based Una-Dyn; and Pennsylvania-based Conair.
