The Baltimore office of Denmark-based jewelry retailer Pandora has announced launching a product line in the United States and Canada featuring items made with 100 percent recycled silver and gold. The same product line features what Pandora calls lab-created diamonds.
Pandora says its new Brilliance collection is its first “crafted with 100 percent recycled silver and gold.” The company says the use of recycled content brings greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of the collection’s first product—a silver ring that also has a lab-created diamond—down to 2.7 kilograms CO2 emissions, which it says “is equal to the average emissions of a T-shirt.”
Pandora has previously committed, in 2020, to craft all its jewelry from recycled silver and gold by 2025. The firm also intends to halve GHG emissions across its value chain by 2030.”
The 33-piece Pandora Brilliance collection includes or will include rings, bangles, necklaces and earrings, each set within sterling silver, 14 karat yellow gold or 14 karat white gold.
“We are proud to broaden the diamond market and offer innovative jewelry that sets a new standard for how the industry can reduce its impact on the planet,” says Pandora CEO Alexander Lacik.
Copenhagen-based Pandora sells jewelry in more than 100 countries through 6,800 points of sale, including more than 2,600 concept stores.
