Olympus makes Dow Jones sustainability list

Maker of metal analyzers earns a spot on the 2022 Dow Jones Sustainability World Index.

Tokyo-based Olympus Corp. has been selected for inclusion in the 2022 Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World) and the 2022 Dow Jones Sustainability Asia Pacific Index (DJSI Asia Pacific). The company, which offers metal analyzing units used by recyclers within its product portfolio, has been named to the DJSI World list for two consecutive years and DJSI Asia Pacific list for four.

Olympus describes the DJSIs as corporate sustainability evaluation indices for environmental, social and governance (ESG) investment. Developed by S&P Dow Jones Indices and Switzerland-based investment fund RobecoSAM, the DJSIs track the financial performances of companies using ESG criteria.

Olympus says it is one of eight out of 64 companies to have been included in the DJSI World Health Care Equipment & Supplies sector, and adds it scored well in the Environmental Policy & Management Systems category, among others.

“It is a great honor for Olympus to again be selected for the DJSI World and Asia Pacific,” says Stefan Kaufmann, director, executive officer and chief administrative officer of Olympus. “We are proud to be included in the DJSI World and Asia Pacific for consecutive years as evidence of our continuous evolution as well as our high reputation in ESG from stakeholders. We will further accelerate our efforts to realize a sustainable society.”

Olympus, which lists health care, research and public safety as product priorities, has more than 30,000 employees worldwide in nearly 40 countries.
