NYMET Holdings Inc., headquartered in Port Jefferson, N.Y., has announced the acquisition of Vican Trading Inc., a scrap metal brokerage firm based in Montreal, Canada.
In announcing the acquisition, T. Benjamin Jennings, president and chairman of NYMET, says, "The acquisition of Vican Trading is an integral part of the growth strategy of NYMET Holdings Inc. The expertise of Vican Trading will play a key role in giving NYMET a world-class global trading desk. In particular, Vican Trading's president and founder, Lorne Kalisky will be a key addition to senior management of NYMET."
Vican, founded in 2004, is involved in global trading for both ferrous and nonferrous metals. The company has managed more than 50,000 containers of metals since it was founded.
