The Metal Recycling Association of India (MRAI), Mumbai, has announced it has changed its name to the Material Recycling Association of India to better reflect its focus on scrap materials beyond just metals.
Amar Singh, secretary general of the MRAI, says since the association has been successful in promoting the metal recycling industry in India, “the new focus will help us to promote not only the metal scrap recycling but all the other scrap materials as well.” This includes, Singh says, but is not limited to ferrous and nonferrous metals, paper, textiles, electronics, rubber, plastic, glass and concrete debris.
Singh says, “MRAI’s vision for this change is to promote a sound and organized market for all types of scrap recycling trade in India, including but not limited to ferrous metal, nonferrous scrap, paper, clothes, e-waste, rubber, plastic, glass, concrete waste and to secure organized action on all subjects relating to scrap recycling and trade in India.”
MRAI says it has begun inviting new members worldwide that represent most types of scrap.
“We assure to work in the same way for our members representing the other scrap recycling industry as we were working for metal recycling industry,” he says.
