Fort Wayne, Indiana-based MetalX LLC has announced the hiring of recycled-content aluminum industry veteran Stan Gish as the new president and chief operating officer (COO) of MMX Aluminum, the company’s aluminum slab production facility being built in Defiance, Ohio.

MetalX describes Gish as bringing “decades of experience and leadership that will be invaluable” as the company expands its operations to include the production of recycled-content aluminum. “Gish is highly respected in the aluminum business, having built an impressive track record of success over the years,” states MetalX.

According to the firm, Gish began his career at Logan Aluminum in Kentucky before engaging in stings with Alcan Aluminum and then Tri-Arrows Aluminum of Kentucky, where he served as that firm’s vice president of operations.

Following his tenure at Tri-Arrows, Gish formed a consulting practice that focused on industry project development and due diligence work that “ultimately led to an opportunity to partner with MetalX on the concept for an independent slab casting operation to produce high-recycled content slab consistent with future sustainability objectives,” states MetalX.

As president and COO of MMX, Gish initially will oversee all aspects of the design, engineering, construction and operation of the slab production facility in Ohio. As a member of the MetalX corporate leadership team, Gish also will be involved in the development and implementation of company initiatives across all business segments, adds the firm.

“Stan’s addition to our leadership team marks a significant milestone for MetalX as we continue to focus on growth in the aluminum sector,” says Danny Rifkin, CEO of MetalX. “Stan's experience, leadership, and vision align perfectly with our mission, and we are excited to see the positive impact he will have on our operations and future endeavors.”

Comments Gish, “I am excited to join the MetalX team and to continue to build on the foundation and culture that Danny, Neal [Rifkin, MetalX executive vice president] and the MetalX team have developed.”

MetalX describes itself as an independent metals recycling business founded in 2012 engaged in nonferrous scrap processing, consulting and management services and the application of new technologies for aluminum and copper recycling.
