Machinex unveils Mach Screw Screen

Equipment manufacturer Machinex, Plessisville, Quebec, has announced the launch of the Mach Screw Screen, a front-end solution for material recovery facilities (MRFs). The company says the Mach Screw Screen, paired with its Mach Trommel, expands its mechanical presort portfolio and allows “the most suitable equipment integration when designing custom MRFs.”

Machinex says the Mach Screw Screen is designed to separate materials by size, whether at presort or screening (old corrugated containers and scalping). The new offering’s primary function is to reduce the tonnage sent to manual presort, while also enhancing worker safety by removing small hazardous materials.

Machinex says the modularity of the Mach Screw Screen makes it a valuable asset for MRFs in the long term, noting that the independent angle adjustments on both decks, considering the tilt and the roll of the screws, “is a true innovation” with a patent pending. Additionally, the double-flight design, which also is patent pending, protects the equipment from long parts to fall through the screws. The company adds that the number of screws is adjustable to meet client requirements and changing consumer habits.

The Mach Screw Screen is the second piece of mechanical front-end equipment designed by Machinex, it says, adapted for single-stream, mixed waste processing and industrial, commercial and institutional (IC&I) systems.

The company says the Mach Trommel “is a reliable piece of equipment adapted for those same three types of systems, but also has proven particularly efficient in construction and demolition (C&D) as well as organic material sorting systems,” with each piece of equipment “offering its own unique features and advantages, in terms of footprint, flexibility of screening size adjustments and more.”

Machinex adds that the goal behind the addition of the new screen is to offer the most suitable solution for its customers’ needs.
