Laird Plastics, a large independent distributor of semi-finished plastic products in North America, has recognized 114 companies for their environmental stewardship through their recycling partnership with Laird.
Brett Thompson, manager of Laird Plastics Recycling and Environmental Business Unit, states, "We feel our position in the supply chain makes us uniquely suited to effectively close the plastics recycling loop. We would like to thank those customers that have helped us develop a robust domestic recycling network."
To improve their recycling efforts, Laird Plastics created its North American Recycling and Environmental Business Unit in 2009, with a charter to drive plastic pounds back into domestic manufacturing, and reduce the volume of plastics that find their way to North American landfills. The program includes the recycling of acrylic, polycarbonate, polypropylene, polyethylene, ABS, PETG, HIPS and other plastic materials. According to Thompson, the environmental arena is constantly evolving, and Laird Plastics will continue to seek new ways to add value through sustainability.
