Komar acquires Ontario-based municipal and industrial equipment provider

Komar Industries, a Groveport, Ohio-based designer and manufacturer of industrial waste and recycling systems, has acquired NexGen Municipal Inc., a municipal and industrial equipment provider headquartered in Burlington, Ontario.

The acquisition is Komar’s second in less than a month and its fifth since December 2022.

NexGen offers municipal solutions including public area waste and recycling containerization; street and pedestrian area sweeping; waste, recycling and organics collection vehicles and transfer systems; compaction trailers; organic extraction for fuel production; waste to energy feed systems; and airport storm water management. Its industrial services include compaction systems; recyclable container compaction; shredding, depackaging and dewatering systems; and specialized fluid processing.

Near the end of December 2023, Komar, which provides a range of products including balers, compactors, industrial shredders, continuous feed systems and more, acquired Columbia, Pennsylvania-based waste handling and recycling equipment distributor Winter Equipment Corp. In the early months of 2023, it purchased both Philadelphia-based PTR Baler & Compactor Co.and South Holland, Illinois-based baling and shredding system manufacturer Maren Engineering Corp.

In December 2022, Komar acquired Bace, a baler and compactor manufacturer located in Charlotte, North Carolina.
