The Lincoln County, Ky., Board of Adjustments has granted a conditional use permit to Eastern Kentucky Recycling to open a scrap metal recycling facility in Crab Orchard, Ky. The company also operates scrap recycling facilities in Junction City, Ky., and Manchester, Ky.
The approval was made at the county’s Jan. 13 board meeting. The property was zoned industrial.
In granting a conditional use permit to the company, Lincoln County added a number of conditions that the company needed to meet. These include the following: installing a 12-foot fence; establishing operating hours of 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and landscaping the area around the scrap yard.
The company also needs to have a detailed site plan approved by the Lincoln County engineer before it can start operating. The plan must include information on how the company will treat storm water and an effective traffic flow pattern for vehicles going in and out of the site.
