The Washington-based Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI) has opened registration for its 2023 Convention and Exposition (ISRI2023), which will take place April 17-20, 2023, at the Music City Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
According to ISRI, this marks the first time the event will be held in Nashville. The association says it expects attendance of more than 6,000 industry professionals.
ISRI2023 will feature more than 30 sessions and 275 exhibits, along with special networking opportunities through ISRI events, including an opening exhibit hall reception, ISRI after-hours party and closing night reception at Nashville’s Wild Horse Saloon.
“We are introducing new networking activities, taking attendees behind the scenes at local member facilities and giving attendees a chance to experience Nashville as the Music City,” says Rebecca Turner, vice president of education and events at ISRI.
ISRI says it also is accepting exhibit and sponsorship applications for ISRI2023. Those interested in exhibit and sponsorship opportunities can email Janesha Russell, who is director of business development at ISRI. Members of the working press can email Vicki Morgan, senior manager of communications at ISRI, for details about registration credentials.
Additional details on sessions, hotels, schedule, convention registration and the exhibit hall are available on the ISRI2023 website.
ISRI, JASON Learning Contest updates
In addition to convention updates, ISRI and Ashburn, Virginia-based JASON Learning have announced that they are seeking submissions from students in grades K-12 for the annual recycling-themed video and poster contest. This year’s contest theme is “Recycling: The Key to Sustainability.” Entrants are asked to create a public service announcement that tells the story of a previous life of a product made with recycled materials and explains how the creation of this product is the key to sustainability and why it matters.
ISRI says the contest is open to students living in the United States and Canada who are enrolled in grades K-12 in the 2022-2023 school year. Students can enter the contest as individuals or as teams with up to four members. Each individual or team can submit either a video or poster related to the contest theme. All entries must be submitted by Dec. 16.
According to ISRI, judges will select one grand prize video and one grand prize poster from the following three grade bands: K-4, 5-8 and 9-12. ISRI and JASON Learning also may acknowledge some honorable mention awards.
Grand-prize winners and their guardians will win a trip to ISRI2023 and will be recognized by ISRI and JASON Learning during the event. Finalists’ videos and posters also will be featured on the ISRI and JASON websites. More contest details are available online.
