ISRI presents 12 companies with 2020 Transportation Safety Awards

The association’s Transportation Safety Awards are given to companies demonstrating a strong commitment to the safety of employees through their fleet safety programs.

The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI), Washington, has announced the winners of its eighth annual Transportation Safety Awards. ISRI says it presents these awards to member companies that have “demonstrated a strong commitment to the safety of their employees and public through effective fleet safety programs.”

The association presents awards in the Best Fleet and Pacesetter categories by class size. The Best Fleet Awards are presented to ISRI members with the lowest vehicle crash rate and the lowest Department of Transportation (DOT) Crash Recordable rate in the past year. The Pacesetter Awards are granted to ISRI members using the same criteria but over a three-year period, in this case from Jan. 1, 2017, to Dec. 31, 2019.

The following companies received ISRI’s Transportation Safety Awards for 2020:

  • Best Fleet Award Small Class (300,000 to 500,000 miles)
    • TJN Enterprises in Sioux Falls, South Dakota;
    • Southern Metals Recycling in Savannah, Georgia; and
    • Metal Recycling (Schnitzer Steel) in Johnston, Rhode Island.
  • Best Fleet Award Intermediate Class (500,001 to 1 million miles)
    • Prolerized New England Co. (Schnitzer Northwest) in Concord, New Hampshire;
    • JAT Inc. (A&W Iron and Metal) in Kewaskum, Wisconsin; and
    • Consolidated Scrap Resources in York, Pennsylvania.
  • Best Fleet Award Medium Class (1,000,001 to 5 million miles)
    • United Scrap Transport Fleet in Philadelphia;
    • Rochester Iron & Metal in Rochester, Indiana; and
    • United Scrap Metal in Cicero, Illinois.
  • Best Fleet Award Large Class (more than 5 million miles)
    • Page Trucking in Weedsport, New York; and
    • OmniSource Transport in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
  • Pacesetter Award Intermediate Class (500,000 to 1 million miles)
    • Prolerized New England Co. (Schnitzer Northeast).
  • Pacesetter Award Medium Class (1,000,001 to 5 million miles)
    • Metal Exchange Corp. in St. Louis.
  • Pacesetter Award Large Class (more than 5 million miles)
    • Page Trucking.

ISRI presented these 2020 Transportation Safety Awards during a Virtual Awards Ceremony Oct. 21.
