Memphis, Tennessee-based packaging, pulp and paper producer International Paper has announced changes to its executive team as well as organizational shifts, effective immediately, saying the moves “enhance agility in serving customers and driving profitable growth.”
Greg Wanta, senior vice president of International Paper’s North American container business, will retire after transitioning responsibilities. Wanta has been with International Paper for 31 years, and CEO Mark Sutton says, “Greg led the North American container business since 2016 and his contributions to the company are foundational to our growth plans.”

Tom Hamic has been named senior vice president of North American Container as well as chief commercial officer. Hamic has been with International Paper since 1991 and served in a variety of sales, marketing and strategy leadership roles. Most recently, the company says Hamic led significant commercial and financial improvements in its Global Cellulose Fibers business.
Other leadership changes include the appointment of Jay Royalty to senior vice president of Containerboard and Recycling and Clay Ellis to senior vice president of Global Cellulose Fibers.
“These moves reflect our leadership bench strength,” Sutton says. “Each of these business leaders have demonstrated strategic agility and drive in achieving industry-leading results.”
The International Paper board of directors also made changes, adding two executives to Sutton’s leadership team.
Aimee Gregg has been elected senior vice president of Supply Chain and Information Technology. Gregg joined the company in 2002 and most recently served as vice president and general manager of Containerboard and Recycling.
