The Memphis, Tennessee-based paper and packaging company, which recently completed the acquisition of London-based packaging company DS Smith, has named Tim Nicholls as executive vice president of IP and president of DS Smith effective April 1. He will report to IP CEO Andy Silvernail.

Nicholls has more than 30 years of industry experience, including a variety of business and finance leadership roles. He has served as IP chief financial officer (CFO) since 2018 and also held that role from 2007-2011.

From 2014-2018, Nicholls led IP’s packaging business in North and South America after having been based in Europe as the vice president and CEO for IP Europe.

He also led the IP side of the integration planning for the merger with DS Smith and has served as the interim leader of the combined business in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) since the transaction closed in February.

"Tim is an exceptional leader with a passion for people and results,” Silvernail says. “I look forward to working with him in this new leadership role where he can continue to build a strong team that will drive excellence.”
