Plastics manufacturer Inteplast Group has acquired Brown Paper Goods, based in Waukegan, Illinois, with the move announced in early April.
Inteplast, a Livingston, New Jersey-based plastics manufacturer that has been introducing a line of recycled-content products, also has rebranded Brown Paper Goods as Brown Paper Products (BPP).
BPP is a paper manufacturer with locations in Waukegan and in Coppell, Texas, plus additional warehouses. BPP will operate as part of Inteplast Group’s Integrated Bagging Systems (IBS) Division. The company provides pinch bottom bags for various prepared hot and cold foods; sandwich, foil, and sub wraps; self-opening sacks; tin tie bags, butcher and freezer rolls and more.
Inteplast Group President Dr. John Young says he welcomes BPP owner Allen Mons as a member of the company’s staff. “We are honored and humbled to welcome a great dedicated team led by Allen,” Young says.
“Brown’s century-old reputation for service and quality is well known to the marketplace, and we intend to continue the same legacy under Allen’s leadership. We are also happy to be able to address our customers’ needs as part of an ever-changing and evolving landscape that also mirrors our own drive toward supporting a circular economy as applied to both paper and plastics packaging."
“BPP brings a wealth of expertise, talented individuals, and a rich culture to our company," IBS Division President Ronnie Chang adds. "Its unique offerings align strategically with the IBS Division’s paper bag initiatives, seamlessly complementing each other.”
Chang refers to Brown Paper Products as a welcome addition to Inteplast, saying the $416.4 billion paper packaging market continues to attract customers.
“We are excited to welcome Brown Paper Products to the Inteplast family,” Chang says. “This powerful synergy will undoubtedly enhance our ability to serve our customers comprehensively. We eagerly anticipate servicing our customers better with combined resources, expertise and innovation in order to satisfy their increasing needs and expectations from suppliers.”
Mons says he sees Inteplast being able to offer a wider scope of customers for the 106-year-old company.
“We’re glad to have joined the Inteplast family as we will have even more resources to better serve our customers, thanks to Inteplast’s guidance,” Mons adds. “The support we have gained will be evident in areas such as logistics, stronger freight relationships, improved manufacturing expertise and a wider line of product offerings.”
“Brown Paper Products and its impressive array of stock and specialty paper bags, wraps, liners are significant additions to our offerings for quick service restaurants, grocery and food service customers," says Leon Chang, senior director of global management at Inteplast. "We look forward to working together with Allen and the BPP team toward the continued growth of this category.”
Inteplast products serve end markets in the health care, food service, packaging, building products, grocery, retail, sanitation, industrial and graphic arts sectors. The company has more than 7,000 employees operating from more than 50 facilities, including its flagship manufacturing complex in Lolita, Texas.
