Ineos Styrolution, Frankfurt, Germany, has received a platinum rating by business standards provider EcoVadis, Paris, for its corporate social responsibility (CSR) performance. This is the second year the company has been awarded the distinction.

According to a news release from Ineos, EcoVadis evaluates companies across four categories: environment, human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement. Ineos Styrolution says its overall score of 77 out of 100 across these four categories is an improvement over last year’s score of 75.

This increase in score reflects the company’s efforts to shift to circular solutions, reduce its carbon footprint and minimize plastic waste across the value chain. The external audit of Ineos Styrolution’s CSR program and reporting conducted this year also contributed to the improvement in score. Ineos Styrolution’s structured sustainability approach, tangible actions and transparent sustainability reporting have been recognized by EcoVadis.

“We are pleased to be awarded a second platinum rating, which confirms that we are on the right track,” says Steve Harrington, CEO of Ineos. “EcoVadis raises the bar every year in terms of their requirements, and we are delighted to be able to match this pace as we improve the sustainability of our operations and our products year on year. This comprehensive assessment and rating will enable our customers to benchmark and track our sustainability efforts and provides us with direction for our future development efforts.”

EcoVadis’ sustainability assessment is based on leading international sustainability standards, such as the United Nations Global Compact, Global Reporting Initiative, ISO 26000 and CERES Principles. The EcoVadis assessment process and methodology are supervised by an international scientific committee.

Ineos Styrolution says it previously received the EcoVadis gold rating in 2018 and 2019, the highest EcoVadis ranking at the time, for its responsible business performance. The company was awarded the platinum rating in 2020, a new rank introduced by EcoVadis that year.
