In memoriam: Charles Gusmano

Waste and recycling industry leader Charles Gusmano died Wednesday, Nov. 16, in Jupiter, Florida.

He began his career on the back of a family garbage truck, and more than 35 years later, rose to become an experienced CEO whose strategic vision, leadership and financial acumen were the foundation for building and leading highly successful organizations.  

His strong faith influenced his leadership, and he mentored so many through his career. His influence and leadership served his teammates and his community. Gusmano served on the board of the Palm Beach Gardens Police Foundation, Cardinal Newman High School, the St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology and the Cathedral of St. Ignatius Loyola.  

He is survived by his wife, Karmita, and children, Anthony, Francine, Kristina, Daniella, Charlie, Michael and Joseph.

A funeral Mass was conducted Nov. 19 at the Cathedral of St. Ignatius Loyola, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Entombment took place at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Cemetery, Royal Palm, Florida.
