The company cites increasing manufacturing costs as the reason for the higher prices, which take effect April 21.

Greif Inc., a Delaware, Ohio-based packaging company, announced earlier this week it is implementing a price increase for all grades of its uncoated recycled paperboard (URB) products as well as increases on all tube and core protective packaging products.

The company is increasing URB product prices between $50 and $70 per short ton, effective with new orders and shipments on and after April 21, and by a minimum 7.5 percent on all tube and core protective packaging products, effective April 28.

According to Greif, the URB price increase is in response to increasing manufacturing costs for its products, while the tube and core price increase is a consequence of the URB price increase, the primary raw material in those products.

“We continue optimizing and fine-tuning our business,” Greif CEO Ole Rosgaard said during the company’s earnings call Feb. 27, which revealed a significant decrease in net income for the first quarter of 2025. “We are transitioning from good to great. We are a market leader in our chosen markets. We have strong track records and are very disciplined in the way we execute our strategy.”
