Greenwave Technology Solutions Inc., Chesapeake, Virginia, has opened a facility in Cleveland. Greenwave, formerly MassRoots Inc., owns a subsidiary called Empire Services Inc. that operates 11 metal recycling facilities in Virginia and North Carolina.

The scrap metal recycling facility is on a 10-acre site on Cleveland's east side in the Evergreen neighborhood. The property has access to the adjoining railroad to transport the scrap metal it processes, and hundreds of local businesses and individuals are accustomed to selling their metal scrap to facilities in the vicinity on a regular basis, according to the company.

Greenwave secured the property in Cleveland formerly occupied by JBI Scrap Processors on East 55th Street in February. The company says it believes the project will be amongst Greenwave's top-performing locations.

The facility will create 15 to 20 jobs in the area and offer an opportunity to repurpose ferrous and nonferrous scrap metals from the industrial sector.

Greenwave says it also plans to implement an awareness program to educate local residents about the importance of recycling and sustainability.

The company generated more than $3 million in revenue during March and expects to continue generating similar revenue levels for the foreseeable future.
