Fontaine Modification Medium & Heavy Truck Operations, a postproduction service provider for trucks based in Charlotte, North Carolina, has introduced an international premium dual-drive modification designed to increase comfort for drivers in the waste and recycling industry.
According to a news release from Fontaine, the modification adds a right-hand drive station to International MV (medium-duty) and HV (heavy-duty) series trucks for applications that require an operator to be able to drive from either side. It provides significant improvements over Fontaine’s other dual-drive offering, including increased legroom, says the company.
“Our engineers have worked hard to make the right-side driving position virtually identical to the ergonomics of the [original equipment manufacturer] left-side position,” says Jamil Young, president of Fontaine Modification Medium & Heavy Truck Operations. “This helps drivers be as comfortable and productive as possible throughout their shifts.”
Fontaine makes the modification at its facility in Springfield, Ohio, near the Navistar plant where International brand MV model and HV model trucks are manufactured. The Fontaine international premium dual-drive modification can be performed on new vehicles as part of Fontaine’s ship-through agreement with Navistar, in what Fontaine calls a seamless and cost-effective process for the customer.
