Atlanta-based Engineered Recycling Systems LLC (ERS), which specializes in designing, installing and servicing custom equipment and systems for scrap metal recycling as well as pneumatic scrap handling and dust collection systems for the paper and paper converting industries, has announced an institutional investment from Line 5 Capital.

Based in Nashville, Tennessee, Line 5 Capital is an independent sponsor and small business investment firm that that says it partners with owner-operated small businesses and “elite veterans to preserve legacies, protect jobs and grow companies.” Line 5 invests in companies in Nashville, Atlanta and Charlotte, North Carolina, with $3 million to $7 million in earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA).

ERS says its entire management team plans to remain in place and will work with Line 5 to continue the buildout of a broader product offering while further positioning the business to scale.

“We truly believe we offer our clients solutions no one else can bring to the table,” ERS co-founder Mike Carver says. “By teaming with Line 5, we’re bringing on a partner who can help us scale without losing our focus designing great systems and truly solving our customers’ problems. We couldn’t be more excited for the future.”

Acting as an independent sponsor, Line 5 was supported by Atlanta-based O15 Capital Partners with debt financing and an equity co-investment alongside other limited partners.

“We’re excited to partner with O15 Capital on this effort,” says Ed Hine, managing partner at Line 5. “The team at O15 quickly came to see what we picked up on. ERS has exceptional product-market fit, great client relationships and a fantastic future. We’re very much looking forward to getting to work with this team.”
