Enva, one the largest producers of recycled extruded plastic compounds in the United Kingdom, has increased its production of recycled plastic compounds following a £1.8 million ($1.95 million) investment, which will double the company’s capacity.
The investment, made at the company’s Lincolnshire, U.K., facility, includes a new extruder that will enable the company to produce more than 2,000 metric tons of extruded compounds per month.
According to Enva, it recovers and recycles roughly 85 percent of all the small waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) generated in the U.K. every year. The company’s separation technologies are used to sort end-of-life plastics, which are converted into high-quality regrinds and compounds. The compounds can then be reused to manufacture electrical goods.
In a new release regarding the expansion, Steve Bell, Enva Plastics general manager, says, “Manufacturers recognize the need to develop more sustainable supply chains and reduce their dependence upon virgin materials. This investment makes us the U.K.’s largest supplier of extruded compounds from WEEE, enabling our customers to further increase their use of recycled plastic and realize the associated environmental and commercial benefits. It will also give us greater capability to custom match the color or physical properties of compounds to our customers’ specific requirements.”
