EMR USA Holdings has established a joint venture operation with Gold Metal Recyclers (GMR), based in Texas. The company was formed in 1975, and now has six metal recycling locations in Texas and New Mexico. GMR’s main processing yards are in Dallas and Houston. The Dallas facility is supported by feeder yards in Fort Worth, Texas and Gainesville, Texas, while the Houston yard is supported by a feeder yard in Liberty, Texas.
The founders of Gold Metal Recyclers, Neil and Kenny Goldberg, will remain with the company as members of the director team and shareholders.
Colin Iles, EMR USA CEO, says, “This is a strong strategic move for EMR in the United States. It is important for us to build on our existing operations in the south of the country and move further into Texas and beyond. EMR and Gold Metal Recyclers share the same values and we will work closely with the existing management of the business to drive the company onto even further future success.”
According to EMR, the addition of Gold Metal will boost the volume of nonferrous metal it handles. EMR adds GMR also will extend EMR USA’s general ferrous recycling interests into Texas.
In total, EMR operates from 150 sites worldwide and handles 10 million metric tons of ferrous and nonferrous metals per year.
