EMR has opened a new facility in Jersey, an island in the English Channel off the coast of Normandy, France. The company relocated to the La Collette Recycling Park from its previous site in Bellozanne, according to a news release.

EMR Jersey worked in partnership with the government of Jersey to facilitate the relocation.

“I was really pleased to officially open the new site for EMR Jersey, which now brings all our main solid waste and reuse and recycling facilities into one location at La Collette,” says Jersey’s Minister for Infrastructure Kevin Lewis, who marked the opening of the facility with a ribbon cutting ceremony Oct. 18.

The move to the new site enables EMR Jersey to improve its ability to segregate various grades of metals, according to the release. The facility can also accept materials that it previously couldn’t, including refrigerators and other cooling appliances.

“I would like to thank the government of Jersey, our customers and our partners,” says EMR Jersey Director Bob Garwood. “Without their support, this relocation would not have been possible.”

He adds, “Giving our customers an exceptional service has always been our priority, so this relocation has enabled us to expand our services. At EMR, we recycle everything from a toaster to an aircraft carrier and our constant drive for innovation has led us to develop technologies that will directly benefit our customers.”

Through EMR’s Community Fund, the company has contributed to and supported local island projects, including Acorn Woodshack, Caring Cooks of Jersey, Jersey Mencap, National Trust for Jersey and The Parish of St. Helier Bloom.

“EMR Jersey is not just a metal recycling facility. It is also a community partner you can rely on,” Garwood says. “We put a great deal of importance on supporting the communities and groups that are close to our sites.”
