EcoBlue, a plastics recycling company based in Rayong Province, Thailand, says it has commissioned its second Starlinger Viscotec SSP sorting and reprocessing plant.
The company says the commissioning last December marks “a significant milestone in its journey toward becoming the largest recycler of high-quality food-grade resins in Thailand” in 2024.
Calling itself a leader in sustainable packaging solutions, EcoBlue says it is committed to offering “global-scale sustainable alternatives” to discarding plastic and the new sorting plant will allow it to offer “a wide spectrum of food-grade recycled resins, including recycled-content polyethylene terephthalate (rPET), recycled-content high-density polyethylene (rHDPE) and recycled-content polypropylene (rPP), all with United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approvals.”
With its expanded production capacity, EcoBlue says it now can produce 30,000 tons per year of food-grade rPET that can meet U.S. and Thai government non-objection standards for bottle-grade applications.
“The investment in cutting-edge technology solidifies EcoBlue’s dedication to meeting the evolving demands of environmentally responsible customers,” according to the firm. The company says its diverse portfolio of recycled-content resins “positions it as a frontrunner in providing innovative and eco-friendly solutions.”
“The successful commissioning of the Starlinger Viscotec SSP is a testament to our unwavering dedication to the cause of sustainable packaging,” says Pranay Jain, CEO and founder of EcoBlue.
Jain continues, “Our goal is to foster the circularity of resources by diverting postconsumer and postindustrial waste away from landfills and into the recycling stream. Since our inception in 2013, we have developed unique capabilities to produce premium rPET, rPP and rHDPE from postconsumer and industrial waste. We are committed not only to providing high-quality recycled resin but also to creating a safe and equitable environment in the waste collection ecosystem through our People First program that safeguards both people and the planet.”
