DS Smith, a sustainable packaging business with U.S. headquarters in Atlanta, has hired five managers and directors within its North American division to service its expanding U.S. footprint.
According to a news release from DS Smith, these hires will be involved in some of DS Smith’s key initiatives for the Paper and Packaging divisions, following on DS Smith’s expansion to the U.S. and opening of its Atlanta headquarters, the launch of its 550,000-square-foot packaging facility in Lebanon, Indiana, and the opening of its first U.S. recycling facility in Reading, Pennsylvania.
Ryan Roberts will serve as the sheeter business unit general manager at DS Smith. Roberts’ background includes senior leadership roles in contract packaging, manufacturing engineering, sales, marketing and commercial operations in the U.S. and Singapore for Unilever and Sealed Air. A packaging engineer graduate from Michigan State University, he also has an MBA from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Roberts is based out of DS Smith’s U.S. corporate headquarters in Atlanta.
Troy Hagenbuch will be a specialty business unit general manager at DS Smith’s Columbia, South Carolina, Greencoat facility. Hagenbuch brings leadership experience from International Paper, FiberMark and Cenveo Corp. He received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Penn State University.
Melanie Galloway is the new vice president of sales, marketing and innovation for Packaging at DS Smith. Galloway has previously worked for FMC Corp., Kemin Industries, JM Huber and MacDermid Graphic Solutions. She received a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, pulp and paper technology from North Carolina State and an MBA from Duke University. Her expertise includes a strong sales, marketing and innovation background. She will work out of DS Smith’s U.S. corporate headquarters in Atlanta.
The company hired Steven Pittler as sales director for DS Smith’s Lebanon, Indiana, packaging facility. Prior to this position, Pittler was the Midwest regional manager at Atlantic Tape and Packaging. He has knowledge in operations, including coatings, as well as commercial experience across multiple site businesses.
DS Smith also hired Adam Olson as sales director for Greencoat. Olson previously worked for companies in the food industry such as Sysco, where he implemented strategies to drive top line growth while building relationships with key customers. Olson is based in Baltimore, Maryland.
