The Danieli Centro Recycling business unit of Italy-based steel mill and metal recycling equipment and technology provider Danieli & C. S.p.A .has received a large order from Mexico-based electric arc furnace (EAF) steelmaker Deacero.
Deacero announced in September its intention to add some 1.2 million tons of EAF steelmaking capacity in its home country.
Now, Deacero has ordered five Danieli Centro Recycling steel scrap shredding plants to process light domestic scrap and car bodies.
According to Danieli, each new plant will feature shredders plus downstream ferrous scrap cleaning and nonferrous separation lines.
The downstream lines will include magnetic separation designed to ensure “a high level of scrap cleanliness,” while flexible inline/offline nonferrous separation will be installed to recover zorba.
Four out of the five shredding plants will be driven by 2,000-horsepower shredders for 50 tons per hour of ferrous output each. The fifth shredder will be equipped with a 4000-hp motor for potential production of 100 tons per hour.
“All shredders will be powered by Danieli-patented inverter drives, which guarantee lower operational costs due to energy consumption savings up to 15 percent,” the technology provider says.
