The Milwaukee-based Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) says more than 139,000 people attended the ConExpo-Con/Agg 2023 trade fair in mid-March in Las Vegas. The show, held in conjunction with the (IFPE) takes place every three years.
“The show crushed expected attendance numbers, drawing over 139,000 construction and fluid power professionals from 133 countries to Las Vegas March 14-18, 2023–making it the largest trade show in North America with more than 2,400 exhibitors from 36 countries spread out over 3 million square feet of exhibit space,” states the AEM in a post-event news release.
“Live events in the construction industry are very important, because you can see, touch and experience the products,” says Phil Kelliher, a senior vice president with Texas-based Caterpillar Inc. and ConExpo 2023 show chair. “That value was reaffirmed this past week across the show floor.”
Sustainability options in the heavy equipment sector were a point of emphasis at the 2023 version of the event, according to AEM. “Show attendees were treated to sustainability in action, from electric- and hydrogen-powered construction equipment, to more recyclable materials and waste reduction opportunities,” says the organization.
Recycling-related examples cited by AEM include Aquajet’s Hydrodemolition robots at the Brokk booth. The units are designed to help demolition contractors remove damaged concrete while leaving still-good concrete and steel rebar intact.
Also on display was asphalt recycling equipment from Connecticut-based Pavement Recyclers LLC and California-based VSS Macropaver that use different processes for recycling asphalt.
South Carolina-based B3C Fuel Solutions products on display are designed to help contractors restore emulsified or damaged oil and make sure lubricant that does find its way to the environment is non-toxic and biodegradable.
Among heavy equipment makers displaying the latest electric-powered or hybrid models were Volvo Construction Equipment, Caterpillar, Kubota and engine producer Briggs & Stratton.
