Following the sale of his previous company Guardian Data Destruction, an on-site electronic data destruction provider, Glenn Laga has co-founded Commercial Solar Panel Recycling, Phillipsburg, New Jersey.
“If solar is green, it only makes sense to create a nationwide, zero-landfill solution for broken and outdated PV panels,” Laga says. “With my partner Peter Goldenberg of High Tide Commodities, we have the knowledge, experience and network to tackle this critical issue in New Jersey and, frankly, every state.”
Connecticut-based High Tide Commodities Management (formerly Totall Product Recovery) is a complete recycling solutions group, providing clients with service advice and solutions.
“My background in logistics and problem-solving, combined with Peter’s expertise and ethical approach to commercial and industrial recycling, makes us well-equipped to address the growing issue and burden of solar panel waste in landfills," Laga says. "We’re operating two processing facilities based in California and New Jersey and already answering demand with locations in Texas, Kentucky and Minnesota.”
Guardian’s sale and CEO transition was supported by multiple members of the Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey (CIANJ), including Anthony Russo, CEO and publisher of Commerce Magazine, which features an article on the deal. Drew Maldonado, a CIANJ member and private client advisor at Bank of America, was instrumental in introducing Laga to Anthony Moretti of Brooks, Houghton & Co., while Kathleen Alexander, CIANJ treasurer and a partner at SAX LLP, managed key aspects of the transaction’s closure.
“CIANJ is more than just an organization; it's a key platform for connecting businesses and creating opportunities," Russo says. "We were thrilled to see our members play such a vital role in Guardian’s sale, and we’re actively engaged in network and relationship building within the New Jersey business community to support Commercial Solar Panel Recycling’s growth and relevance in the Garden State."
Commercial Solar Panel Recycling provides solar panel recycling solutions, specializing in the safe and efficient disposition, recycling and repurposing of decommissioned and end-of-life solar panels from installers, utilities, roofers and other commercial and industrial entities. The company says it helps organizations support a circular economy while adhering to strict industry regulations, diverting panels from landfills and maximizing resource recovery through innovation and partnerships. It offers nationwide transportation, packing and processing of broken and used photovoltaic panels.
