Portland, Maine-based CLYNK, which offers beverage container bag drop redemption technology, has appointed Jules Bailey as chief strategy officer (CSO).

In the new role, Bailey will co-lead the development and execution of CLYNK’s strategy to reach new and existing markets to drive revenue, market share and policy initiatives.

Bailey has nearly two decades of experience in the recycling and circular economy space. He spent the last seven years at the Oregon Beverage Recycling Cooperative (OBRC), most recently as CEO.

Building on CLYNK bag drop technology, OBRC grew its bag drop program to more than 1 million accounts and propelled Oregon to become the nation's top-performing bottle bill state, CLYNK says of Bailey’s stint with his former employer.

Prior to his role with OBRC, Bailey served as a state legislator, including serving on a committee that modified Oregon’s bottle bill.

“Jules is a proven visionary with unmatched expertise navigating the recycling ecosystem,” says Matt Prindiville, CEO of CLYNK. “His addition to our leadership team arrives at the perfect moment as we work to bring CLYNK’s bag drop service nationwide. We are thrilled to welcome him aboard.”

Bailey will spearhead corporate development, formulating strategies to increase market share through new business, partnerships, mergers and acquisitions and will advise the CEO and leadership team on key strategic decisions and organizational alignment.

“I am excited to join the talented team at CLYNK at such a pivotal point in the company's journey,” Bailey says. “Tapping into the power of automation and data is critical to scaling recycling, reducing waste and promoting sustainability. I look forward to collaborating with this outstanding team to drive CLYNK's next phase of industry-leading growth.”

Bailey’s appointment is effective immediately and he will be based out of Portland, Oregon.

CLYNK's bag-drop system is a patented platform that enables grocers to provide a "seamless" redemption experience for consumers, allowing them to quickly drop off bottles and cans at conveniently located solar and wind-powered stations. The technology serves more than 500,000 consumer accounts and has processed more 2.5 billion containers collected in bottle bill, or deposit-return system, jurisdictions.
